Ex-Mormon Paul Gee Leaves Mormonism to Follow Jesus

Paul Gee grew up Mormon, naturally believing the claims of Joseph Smith and the LDS Church. Then one day he started reading the Bible with the “eyes of a child” and discovered major differences between the teachings of Christ in the Bible and those found in Mormonism. Further research uncovered the fact that Joseph Smith could not translate the text of the Book of Abraham that forms the basis of many unbiblical beliefs found in Mormonism. At this point, Paul had to make a decision: Would he follow Christ or would he remain comfortable following the teachings of the LDS Church that are at odds with Christ? For Paul, the choice was clear, he stopped singing “praise to the man” Joseph Smith and began singing praises only to Jesus as his only true Lord and Savior!  He is happily married to his sweetheart Elizabeth and is a father to two sweet girls.

Patrick J. Knapp, MA, PhD, ChB. Pat’s initial interest in cult recovery stems from his own involvement in an aberrant bible-based group (1970-1984). His recovery came as a result of individual and marriage counseling, in addition to several years of work in and facilitating support groups for former cult members and their loved ones. Trevor is a young man who has a real heart for Mormons. One year, we were able to help him join our volunteer ministry team with Rob and Doug witnessing at the Manti Utah Pageant.  Trevor shared his experiences below:

My experience in Manti, Utah in June of 2015 was spectacular as usual! This was my third year to attend this event.   I explored the following two concepts with the people that I spoke with:   the concepts of fullness and forgiveness. Christians and Latter-day Saints (LDS) seem to view these concepts through a different lens.   Christians believe that the Bible is the infallible word of God which cannot be added to or subtracted from and that it is the fullness of truth. LDS believe that the Bible is the word of God as far as it is correctly translated, as stated in the 8^th Article of Faith. They also use the Doctrine and Covenants and the Pearl of Great Price, as scripture. Regarding forgiveness, Christians believe that all sins; past, present, and future were all forgiven the moment that Jesus said, “It is finished” on the cross; while LDS disagree.

When challenged by his wife Helen, who came to salvation in Christ through her research into Mormonism, he adamantly refused and set out to prove her wrong. What Do Mormons Have? Forever Families!  Oh Really?

Mormons often boast about things that Mormonism has that no other religion has. This  seems  to be an attempt  to convince both themselves  and others  that  the LOS Church  is "the  one true church."   But do Mormons really have any of these things? I have come to realize that the answer is a resounding  "no" when  a  person  takes  a closer look at virtually any of them.
